The Administrative Specialist supports the Dean's Office and Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff at the Harvard Kennedy School and performs complex administrative duties. This position works as part of a team and assists the Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff in managing multiple tasks related to initiatives and priorities of the Dean. The Administrative Specialist also manages an assigned portfolio of special projects and helps to coordinate events.
This is a benefits-eligible part time position at 20 hours a week. Preferred schedule is 5 hours.day; Monday – Friday.
Provide administrative support to the Dean's office and to the Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Reporting to the Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff in the Dean's Office, the Administrative Specialist, while working as part of a team, will manage an assigned portfolio of special projects, events, committees, conferences and Dean's Office communications (correspondence and email). Manages posting of Dean's events and other content on Dean's Office Knet page.
Assists Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff in managing multiple tasks related to initiatives and priorities of the Dean, Acts as liaison to other School or University departments, including the Forum Office ,ARRD, Degree programs and others
Helps coordinate smooth execution of various projects and events, working collaboratively with event planners and others, to help manage and coordinate major undertakings and complex events of the Dean's Office, such as preparation for Visiting Committee , full Faculty Meetings, the Dean's
Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years professional experience in increasingly responsible administrative positions in academia, business, government, communications or related area.
Master's degree preferred. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with higher education and with current domestic and international relations policy issues highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and oral communications skills essential, including ability to deal diplomatically with wide range of people. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; attention to detail; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment crucial. Must be able to take initiative and responsibility for follow-through on projects and assignments. Ability to handle confidential information essential. Must possess demonstrated writing ability, as well as excellent editing and proofreading skills.
