The Event Planner position assists the Associate Director (aka Director of Operations) with overall operations of the Stephen C. O’Connell Center at the University of Florida.
The Event Planner will provide assistance in coordinating use of the facility for special events and various in-house promoted events, as well as provide assistance with pre-game events and activities on football game days. This includes scheduling of staff, establishing proper facility configuration, working with promoters/clients to ascertain event needs, providing day of show supervision for assigned events, and by working with the production staff in the creation of AutoCAD drawings and for technical aspects of special events.
This position is also responsible for assistance in supervising auxiliary spaces including the Brand Center Court Club, indoor pool, gymnastics studio, practice court, Warrington Dance Studio, external entrance areas, leased space and other support rooms. Responsibilities vary for each space but include ensuring client satisfaction in utilization of those areas, supervision, and daily maintenance and safety inspections. Daily inspections will include reporting all work orders, following up to ensure work order completion, as well as attending to other specialized needs associated with those areas. The incumbent will also assist with the coordination of temperature and lighting controls of the center and helps to ensure storage areas within the Center are organized efficiently and safely.
Additionally, the Event Planner coordinates and manages the Center’s annual in-house promoted Craft Festival event by managing vendor applications, vendor selection and placement, booth registration for over 250 outside vendors, purchasing, staff supervision, event planning and all other associated details. The Event Planner may also coordinate other special events as requested by Director/Associate Director.
Required: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and seven years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience

The arena features academic, athletic, recreational and entertainment activities.
