Bentley UniversityJob Description SummaryProvide career advising and career search support to dedicated populations of Bentley undergraduate students. Develop and manage relevant Career Communities and create content for said Career Communities on Undergraduate Career Development's CareerEdge website. Conduct strategic employer and alumni outreach resulting in new, existing, or inactive employer/alumni engagement, to diversity and enhance these relationships, and to increase knowledge of relevant roles, career paths, and corporate culture. Create and deliver innovative on and off campus career programming to assist career education and employment for dedicated student cohorts.
Essential Duties- Provide personalized career coaching individually, and in groups, for juniors and seniors to assess and explore their personal strengths, talents, skills, interests and personalities in order to make informed, realistic and satisfying career decisions, explore potential career paths that flow from them, educate and inform them about job search strategies, relevant employers, relevant functions, appropriate career paths, career resources, and social media tools to secure internship and full-time employment.
- Regularly communicates with, and closely tracks engagement and employment progress of student cohorts.
- Develop, manage and engage relevant Career Communities and ensure they represent industries and functions that align with Bentley curriculum, faculty and student organization partnerships, established career interests and outcomes, alumni and professional networks, labor market trends and market positioning through programming, outreach and website content.
- Work extensively with employers, student organizations, faculty and staff to promote and deliver effective Career Community programming to educate and inform students about functional roles, career paths, industries and employer organizations.
- Create, market and deliver advanced career education workshops and programs specifically designed for dedicated populations.
- Teach in person, hybrid and asynchronous Career Design Introduction/Intensive Courses (CDI 101, 201 and 301).
- Develop and maintain internal relationships with appropriate faculty, student organizations, and university-wide departments for cross-campus efforts.
- Develop and maintain external relationships with appropriate employers and alumni for advising, programming, outcomes and career educational purposes.
- Act as point person for PCDC non-profit internship programs
- Must have respect and sensitivity to work with colleagues, students, and alumni from diverse cultural backgrounds and assist Bentley's and PCDC's DE&I initiatives
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor degree with a minimum 5 years of post-graduate/professional career advising and/or recruiting of bachelor of arts students and/or liberal studies majors in areas such as healthcare, biotechnology, sustainability, technology, and non-profit or related and relevant industry experience in one or more of these areas.
- The ideal candidate will be well informed about current business issues, business activity, business careers and employer expectations as they relate to these majors and industries.
- Must be an engaged learner and eager and able to research and communicate recruiting and industry trends across multiple disciplines effectively both in writing and verbally in advising.
- Must be effective and proactive event planner and able to create and facilitate multiple programs for related career communities and effectively market them to students.
- Comfortable interacting with employers and alumni. Committed to working with and championing undergraduate students.
- Able to interact with faculty and other leaders on campus as a peer.
- This candidate will need to be open to completing training and certifications relevant for this position which may include, and is not limited to, CliftonStrengths and Strong Interest Inventory
- Able to effectively communicate to large audiences and have superior presentation skills.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal and advising skills.
- Have or develop strong technical skills to work efficiently with all Career Center systems. Ideally have Excel, PowerPoint and Social Media knowledge and skill; must be able to become well-versed and become comfortable working in career services related CRM's such as Handshake, VMock and UConnect.
- Must be a results-oriented and agile individual and a team player.
- Able to work evenings and occasional weekends.
Work Environment- Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work; must be able to deliver all work product both in person and virtually (virtual work must be approved by manager).
- May need to travel to offsite events; work and/or travel may occur outside of normal business hours including evening and weekends.
