The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for supporting the IT needs of UC Irvine faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education, and community service goals of the University. The Classroom Technologies group within OIT is responsible for instructional technology in roughly 150 classrooms, computer labs, and conference rooms, and instructional tools used campus-wide such as Zoom, YuJa, and Poll Everywhere.
Under supervision of the Operations Manager, OIT Classroom Technology Support, the Classroom Support Technologist provides audio/visual and limited computer support for Smart Classrooms, lecture halls, computer labs, conference rooms, etc. Completes production jobs and tasks that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving procedural issues. Duties include performing first-level help desk and first and second level in-field support of Smart Classroom users, including technical and instructional assistance. They will also include performing routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting and first and second level diagnostics for classroom systems, and other clerical or technical support assigned by supervisors.
One (1) to three (3) years with BA/BS OR zero (0) to one (1) year with MA/MS and/or equivalent experience.
Outstanding inter-personal and customer service skills. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with meeting planners and equipment users of various competency. Follow up information gathering, and communication is often necessary. Must be organized and have good time-management skills. The ability to handle multiple tasks at once and methodically keep track of equipment, reservations, and service requests is imperative. Must be detail oriented. Information comes to us in many forms and from many sources, and the relevant details must be gathered and then input correctly for tracking, billing, and equipment programming. Working knowledge of various operating systems and office software. Work is skilled in nature, requiring independent judgment using well developed CTS guidelines. Demonstrated ability to monitor various AV systems.
Preferred:
Demonstrated ability to utilize various computer manuals and online documentation to diagnose problems. Extensive knowledge of audio/visual equipment, multimedia, and personal computers and the skill to set up, operate and troubleshoot a wide variety of equipment and systems. Includes programming support for classrooms systems using Extron GUI Configurator and Extron Global Configurator3.

Must pass a background check. Must possess a valid California Driver's License and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
