Provide management and oversight for the Reitz Union Hotel
Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining high standards for hotel operations including but not limited to guest services, business and financial operations, and facility management
Responsible for hiring, training, and supervision of staff which includes one fulltime Front Desk Supervisor, part-time hotel student assistants, student managers and student night auditors
Perform guest services desk and/or night audit functions in the event of a staff shortage
Coordinate with the Reitz Union Event Planners, university departments, and other entities as needed for group reservations and conference planning
Prepare budgets for hotel including revenue projections; develop and implement strategic plan to increase and maintain revenue goals
Ensure appropriate internal controls for financial operations; coordinate with Reitz Union Business Office staff as needed for compliance with department procedures in budgeting and financial operations
Maximize room yield and hotel revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs
Perform regular surveys of area hotels to assess rates, occupancy levels, and products and services offered; prepare comparison reports based on survey information
Responsible for event scheduling, planning, and permitting review
Responsible for using reservation systems to provide comprehensive event services to customers; determine space availability, enter reservations, reserve equipment, and create room diagrams based on information provided by customer
Serve as a resource and consult with clients as needed to identify and understand customer goals; in collaboration with customer, determine appropriate space based on compatibility with event needs and other relevant considerations; create an event plan including but not limited to space diagram, support services needed, event management arrangements, and applicable contract rental rates
Coordinate with internal units (e.g. Building Supervisors, Productions, AV Services, Housekeeping), regarding event activities to ensure spaces are prepared for use
Responsible for ensuring compliance with university policies, procedures, and university regulations for event management
Responsible for using a computer database system to review event permits submitted by student organizations, University departments, and external groups.
Provide information, through the permit review process, to student leaders and event coordinators in various aspects of event operations including but not limited to event planning and management, safety, liability and risk management and crisis management as required
Responsible for on-site event management, as required (may include nights and/or weekends)
Responsible for on-site event management for designated events: manage crowd control procedures, monitor maximum room capacity requirements ensuring maximum capacity is not exceeded and ensure compliance with university/department policies as needed
Provide oversight and direction for event staff at events in the Reitz Union
Interpret and ensure compliance with university/department policies as needed
Assist with emergency action plan procedures as needed
Responsible for fulfilling or assisting with other administrative functions within the Reitz Union as directed
Lead hotel team in developing and implementing an overall business and retail strategy for the Reitz Union Hotel
Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotel's annual operating budget, and marketing & sales plan
Collaborate with maintenance team to maintain hotel with preventative maintenance plans
Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA, ADA and other relevant regulations at all times
Develop reports (as needed), handle special projects and other duties as assigned
Serve on Division of Student Life or University of Florida committees as needed
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
