AASA, The School Superintendents Association, is searching for a meeting planner to join our talented team as we expand our department. This new team member will manage meeting logistics for our growing professional development arm that we call Leadership Network, and other small meetings as assigned. LN supports a pipeline of diverse superintendents and educational leaders as they advance their knowledge, skills and dispositions for highly effective leadership.
In addition, the Meeting Planner will assist in the management of our annual conference, the National Conference on Education.
AASA has a great culture and with employees who have stayed for many years and continue to grow in their careers. This position will be remote a majority of the time with exceptions when traveling or running meetings locally and for in-office days to prepare for meetings. The mix of normal work days combined with travel occasionally is great for work life balance. Having an additional meetings manager to bounce ideas and problems off of is a great asset and the entire meetings department works together very closely on all AASA events. Being detailed oriented but also capable of going with the flow and quick to react in situations are all important attributes of this job.
The starting salary will be between $53,000 and $68,000 annually.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees Small Meetings
Manages program logistics, budgets and marketing for Leadership Network events and other small meetings, including housing contracts, F&B, AV, Shuttle, Offsites, etc.
Provides on-site support for small meetings.
Assists with other small meetings as assigned.
Assists with the AASA’s National Conference on Education
Assists in aspects of the National Conference on Education as assigned.
Develops and maintains project and historical/benchmark files for all meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: College degree required or equivalent training and experience; working toward CMP certification, is desired.
Experience: 3-5 years of meeting planning experience
Skills:
Exceptional human relations, customer service and project management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including well-developed editing skills and the ability to effectively communicate with staff, volunteers, association members, vendors and exhibitors.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work under pressure with many different individuals and maintain composure under stressful conditions.
Strong initiative and adept with managing deadlines.
Possesses the ability to work independently with minimal guidance or in a team environment with staff of all levels.
Exhibits professionalism.
Excellent skills in using varied PC applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database management (iMIS), Photoshop and Illustrator.
Asana and Pathable knowledge a plus.
Physical Demands: Regular use of desktop and laptop computers is common.
Travel: The incumbent is required to travel 20-30% of the time and may be required to work longer than normal hours at meetings and conferences will be expected.
