Assistant Director, Events and Brand Experience - McDonough School of Business - Georgetown University
The Assistant Director of Events and Brand Experience is a member of a team that coordinates events for the McDonough School of Business, with the overall goal of increasing the school's visibility, much of which comes from events. They are responsible for making sure all events are properly executed to ensure they positively represent the school's brand - and their achievements impact our rankings, recruiting, fund-raising, student, faculty, and alumni satisfaction.
Events include but are not limited to: multiple graduation ceremonies and receptions; Board of Advisors and Parents Advisory Council meetings, luncheons and /or speaker dinners; national academic conferences; reunion events and alumni events in other cities; VIP presentations; CEO panels and breakfasts/luncheons and galas; and staff and faculty luncheons.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Director of Events and Brand Experience, the Assistant Director of Events supervises the Special Events Assistant(s) and student employees, and routinely interacts with all levels of the school's administration, all undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, faculty, and with GU administration offices as they relate to events.
They work with university constituents to schedule the use of Fisher Colloquium; and with the building manager regarding facilities requests for Fisher Colloquium.
As well, they work extensively with off-campus service providers - such as caterers, equipment suppliers, photographers, and private security for VIPS - in contact that is both formal in planning and informal in coordination of events in the building; and provide regular supervision of contracted vendors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Event planner with 1 to 3 years of experience in event planning/management and marketing experience
Complex project management experience
Google Suite/Microsoft Office, and experience with spreadsheets
Comfortable with using digital event management systems (though training provided upon hiring on Salesforce and Linvio), including data management, security, and training
