The Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations seeks its next full-time Special Events Manager to join its dynamic team starting July 1, 2025. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, this position will lead, manage, and support all aspects of Advancement team events and will assist with school-wide events as needed. The individual will be committed to Dalton’s mission, passionate about education, and have the talent and ability to work successfully with colleagues, parents, alumni, volunteers, and other Dalton community members.
This is a full-time, in-person position. May require early mornings, evenings, and weekend work as needed.
Responsibilities:
Plan and execute Advancement fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events including the Spring Benefit, Grandfriends Day, Leadership and Volunteer Appreciation Reception, Kindergarten Parents Cocktail Party, New Parents Breakfasts, Volunteer Thank You Breakfast, memorials, and other celebrations as needed.
Develop and manage the timeline and all logistical aspects of events (securing space/venue, negotiating contracts, hosting team and volunteer meetings, ordering supplies and food, creating and monitoring registrations and related reporting, working with internal and external vendors).
Recruit, manage, and steward volunteers and related committees.
Create and manage event budgets.
Partner with Chief Advancement Officer to achieve annual revenue goals and provide financial and participant reports after each event.
Oversee Raiser’s Edge events module and manage event registration and reporting to the Advancement team and volunteers.
Partner with Database Services Administrator on data integrity and integration.
Collaborate with Advancement and Communications colleagues on event invitations, journals, marketing materials, and social media content.
Collaborate with Alumni and Annual Fund colleagues on event planning as needed.
Train and mentor Advancement team colleagues on registration and events modules.
Assist with annual calendar of events process.
Qualifications:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professionally rigorous environment and manage multiple demands and deadlines.
Benefit and auction event experience with proven frontline fundraising skills and demonstrated success metrics.
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge/NXT or a comparable Development database.
Proficiency in event planning software and programs.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in G-Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong grasp of the role of technology in fundraising and event management.
Ability to work well independently and as a team player.
Ability to work with confidential information.
Demonstrated emotional intelligence; sense of humor welcome.
Bachelor’s Degree.
