The Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department offers many opportunities for residents to engage in recreation and outdoor pursuits. The county is home to many parks and athletic complexes, where sports tournaments and athletic events are hosted. In addition, the parks system maintains 21 historic sites, an extensive trail system and five conservation areas: Brown and Williamson, Dutch Gap, Radcliffe, Swift Creek and James River. Our indoor facility inventory includes the Bensley, Ettrick, Stonebridge and Beulah recreation centers, the Rockwood Nature Center and the County Fairgrounds. A wide variety of recreation services are offered, catering to the unique interests of citizens. The department’s Program Guide outlines recreation services in sports and athletics, classes, special events, therapeutic recreation, outdoor adventures, programs for older adults, nature exploration, summer camps and historical interpretation.
